About the role:
Newstead Orchard is looking for talented, experienced sales assistants who can provide quality customer service in our Orchard Shop (Tuesday-Friday Noon-5:30) and/or at Farmer’s Markets (Saturday and Sunday mornings). You will be responsible for engaging with customers, ensuring attractive product displays, grading and packaging fruit, ensuring that health and safety, and food safety standards are met. We are looking for a foodie who genuinely enjoys and values fresh local produce and is interested in the work that goes into keeping local family-owned orchards successful and viable. It’s a hands-on role with significant time grading and sorting fruit for sale and then engaging directly with the customer who purchases it. Continuous improvement and genuine commitment to delivering quality fruit cost-effectively is essential in the role.
Your ability to collaborate in a small team and contribute positively to our vision will be key. It is a physical role, often moving crates of fruit and standing for much of the day, so physical fitness will be essential.

Tech-Savvy: Experience with social media marketing and/or customer database management would be an asset.
Team-Oriented: You thrive in a collaborative setting and are eager to contribute to the team’s success.
Qualifications & Skills:
Prior experience in customer service or retail is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge or interest in sustainable farming, fresh produce, or food safety.
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
Accountability for your own work and managing time effectively.
Willingness and ability to do physical tasks, such as moving and lifting crates of fruit or cleaning the workspace.
Ability to work well with a diverse team and contribute to a positive work environment.
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and/or creating content is desirable but not essential.
A full drivers license, your own transport, and be comfortable driving a small trailer full of fruit.
